Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers

From the beginning, Semi-Bulk Systems inc. has served customers in the chemical markets with out FIBC systems. The Air Pallet® Container was designed exclusively for the fine powdered specialty chemicals. This containers continues to be ideally suited for both shipping and delivering these chemicals to a process in a dust free, totally enclosed environment.

FIBC

FIBC

Since it’s inception in 1975, Semi-Bulk Systems, Inc. manufactured and sold a proprietary FIBC known as the Air Pallet® Container.

Bulk Equipment Systems, Flexible Bulk Containers and Bulk Container Bags.

The most commonly used FIBC for packaging of bulk powders, powdered ingredients, grains, pellets etc. is the ‘bulk bag’. This container may identified by many other names. Typically these bags are designed to hold (2,000 lbs. U.S. ton-2,200# metric ton) of most powdered materials and are single use, one way shipping containers. A variety of types and sizes are available and there are several that are designed as multiple use.  The industry term for such containers is semi-bulk or a package that is in between full bulk and smaller containers such as 25KG or 50 lb. paper bags. Since it’s inception in 1975 Semi-Bulk Systems, Inc. manufactured and sold a proprietary FIBC known as the Air Pallet® Container. The founders of the company named their company Semi-Bulk Systems, Inc. and were also co-founders of the FIBC Committee which continues to be an active organization.

Our company continues to manufacture and supply the Air Pallet® Container as well as systems for filling and unloading them. Although  we do not manufacture standard bulk bags, the filling and unloading of them into our processes is a large portion of our business.

Bulk handling system including flexible intermediate bulk container.

Semi-Bulk Systems offers filling systems for Air-PalletSM Containers, as well as bulk bags with adaptors for drums and pallet box filling. Available air pallet filling options include: Scale base with automated fill weight control; compaction tables and thumper tables for product densification and stability; adjustable mast for accommodation of varying container heights; automated divert valve control for vent and dust control to dust collector; manual and power roller conveyors to load empty containers and remove full containers; inflation blowers for bulk bag liners and vacuum blowers for product densification where applicable.

Semi-Bulk Systems offers air pallet filling systems for bulk bags and bins designed for hygienic filling of food ingredients. They also incorporate the options listed above.

Semi-Bulk Systems offers complete air pallet design engineering, including initial ingredient evaluation and characterization. All fabrication and assembly are done in our manufacturing facility, and systems are tested in our production-scale pilot plan before they are placed in your operations. Then we supervise your installation and start-up and provide ongoing training and service.

Unloading stations for bulk handling system.

Air Pallet Unloading Stations

Air Pallet Unloading Stations are available for supporting and unloading Air-Pallet Containers with dust control and loss-in-weight discharge. Unload stations accommodate gravity discharge, feed to pneumatic vacuum conveyors or feed to the VACUCAM™ Slurry Process.

Bulk bag handling systems for dry product processes.

Each bulk bag unloader is available with numerous options to facilitate the rapid and dust-free unload and batch processes associated with bulk bags:

  • Heavy gauge construction of stainless steel or mild steel
  • Clean in place bulk bag handling designs
  • Polished product contact surfaces for hygienic (sanitary) applications
  • Fluidized dry particle aeration prior to vacuum convey or discharge
  • Bulk bag/paper bag surge bins equipped with 50-200 cu.ft. (1.5-6 cu.meter) surge capacity with vibratory bulk bag dischargers
  • Surge bins include Air-Cone hopper bottoms to assure “CONDITIONED” powder feed to high capacity processes. Systems also include loss-in-weight controls for feeding various unload and take away options
  • Docking Stations for collapsible bins equipped with Air-Cone Hoppers and loss-in-weight controls for feeding various unload and take away options
  • Loss-in-weight process accuracy with integral load cells and junction boxes
  • Fluidized Air-Cone Hopper bottoms for fast, easy product discharge
  • Single or multiple units for sequential batch processing of multiple ingredients in bulk bag handling
